Clad Quarters Question
Blackman's book lists the quantities of clad quarters minted from the late 60s through the 90s as approximately half a billion Philly, half a billion Denver, and 3 million San Francisco. The book lists San Francisco mint proofs as having value. So my question is: Does this mean that the three million per year San Francisco minted coins are in circulation, but only the proofs have value, or that this is the value of the 3 million proofs each year that were made? Mike The San Francisco ones are all proof coins. You won't find them in circulation unless someone took a proof and spent it. |

Those beautiful proofs are never circulated by the mint. They are for
collectors only. Sometime after the 70's, San Francisco only mints proofs for collectors and no coins intended for circuilation. |
