Veneer over paint ...
All,
I have an M100C that I am working on, and it has a coat of glossy white latex paint. In the past, I have always stripped the cabinets down to the wood before veneering, but I am wondering if anyone has attempted to veneered over paint (especially latex). If so, let me know how it turned out. Thanks. Chris |

Bad idea; do it right and remove the paint. Any type of solvent-based glue
that you use to adhere the veneer will loosen the adhesion of the latex paint. You'll end up with bubbles and ripples in the surface. not to mention the surface texture - you want as smooth a surface as
possible before you apply veneer. Most of the Latex finsihes I have seen are brush applied and arent that smooth. Definitely strip it. "Joseph A. Definitely strip it.I'm doing a C too and it's getting stripped and sanded down
to the smoothest possible finish.Veneer is to expensive to waste putting over paint. No way would I do it. |
