what is a starter holder???
what is a starter holder. i originally thought it was a place to plug in a weird shaped bulb. do you plug anything into it, what is the purpose, thanks.

In jukeboxes it is a Twist lock style, bi-pin. The starters are usually

what is a starter holder???
A starter is required when used with "preheat" fluorescent lamps. When
power is first applied the starter momentarily closes a circuit to the fluorescent tube. When the tube lights, the starter cuts itself out of the circuit until the next time you turn on the power. Starters are sort of like a thermal switch you could say. They come in different electrical sizes depending on the wattage of the bulb to be lit. Jukeboxes typically use types FS-2, FS-4, and FS-25. You can buy these at local hardware/electrical/lighting stores. |
