That is actually quite clever, IMHO.

Sadly, while General Relatively does allow for backwards-going solutions to
time travel, you need to fly your time machine in a prescribed orbit around
a 'superstring', a linear black hole which may not even exist in the
universe (now called a 'multiverse', BTW). Plus GR is almost certainly
inaccurate in some of its details.

On the Bright Side, a forwards-going time machine is relatively simple to
make, and the physics behind it (Special Relativity) is well known and has
been proven by direct measurement. You just need a really fast rocket.
What you could do is take your coin collection with you in the rocket,
accelerate to near the speed of light, then come back to earth. You would
find (depending on your speed) that only a few years have passed, but on
earth you might find that a thousand years have passed and now your
collection is worth millions of dollars.

Sadly, you would then be bitterly disappointed when you walk into a
convenience store and see the 'Have a million $'? Need a million $' Dish.
Inflation, you know.

The real bitch would be that the US *still* hasn't discontinued the
penny, and you'd have to cough up 10,000,000 cents just to make change.
