G'day Alain,
would not the Perfin suggest an area censor?

Hello

This is no french censorship, but british.
Le Havre was nor occupied by Germany, so I think, this letter has made
its way via Great Britain and then to Amsterdam, probabely per steamer.

I doubt, you will find any information about that. I did not find
anything in my Handbook "Censorship WWI". I never heard about a list
where the single censors were listed and even more where they were at a
certain date. That would be allmost impossible, in my opinion.

There is a psecialty group - the Civil Censorship Study Group - and I
recommend visiting their website - http://www.postalcensorship.com/ccsg/
- and contacting one of the representatives listed. I believe that
there has been compiled information on the location of British
censors.

The perfins had nothing to do with the censoring or location -
according to the Ancoper perfins catalogue, the user of pattern JR was
Joseph Danon of Le Havre.
