General Question
Hi All,
I am curious as to what you all feel about a dedicated numismatics website with a forum to act as an online community for collectors? I know some people don't like web based forums preferring groups and newsgroups. It would obviously be slightly less democratic than a newsgroup but a forum would eliminate spam and cross posts from other newsgroups. Thoughts greatly appreciated. Mame du Bois |

Usenet by it's nature is decentralized, which is what keeps it alive long after the originators get bored with a group or project. It would obviously be slightly less democratic than a newsgroup but a forum would eliminate spam and cross posts from other newsgroups. It's been tried with varying success on varying topics. If someone wants to try, go for it, but don't expect the world. |

There are already eight or ten, maybe more. Check yahoo, google or here http://www.canadiancoin.com/index.htm JAM |

Mame du Bois Try this one: http://www.coinpeople.com or this one: http://www.coinforum.com I prefer to hang out at CoinPeople because of the Russian coins subforum. Many people from the Russian Numismatic Society also go there, and therefore the knowledge level in the exchanges is quite high (and the people are very nice!) Also, it is nice to be able to post pictures (and an occasional word or passage in Russian.) -- Bob Hairgrove |
