Default Seeburg L100 selection problem

Could anyone help with my seeburg L100, when turned on it takes about 6
selections before it will play. The first couple of selection - the
mechanism just moves left and back to the right again, the next few - the
selections are chosen but are immediatley put back down without playing. It
seems to be getting progressively worse, it takes more and more selections
before it will play. Once the first record is played - it works fine,
wierd??

Thanks to anyone that can help

I'd suspect a sticky clutch mechanism on the record carriage. As the motor
runs and heats up it frees up the congealed oil and lets the clutch shift
correctly. You may be able to help things by lubricating the mechanism as
detailed in the service manual, but worst case you may have to disassemble the
clutch assembly so you can clean out the accumulated gunk.
