Default DGS Dominion Coin Grading

I have a good feeling about DGS coin grading, through I have not seen
any of their coins yet, except the few they post online. I really like
how they are innovative and seem really concerned about doing the
right thing.

I sent an email to their president, John Feigenbaum, two months ago on
a Sunday morning. I really never expected a response. Instead, I
received an email reply on SUNDAY the SAME day from their president
thanking me for my suggestions and adding a few other comments. Now
that's customer service and I take it as a very good sign of things to
come.

I like PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG (on a selective basis). I hope that I
can soon add DGS coins to my collection. My only concern, which I hope
DGS can quickly solve, is getting themselves allowed on eBay. While I
may potentially like their coins, I need to be able to sell them and I
want to use eBay an outlet. I just hope that the power brokers at the
ANA, along with PCGS and NGC, don't convince eBay to block this new
venture.

In short, collectors, I suggest we give this new company a chance.
Give their website a look and see all the new innovative things they
offer.

Also, I hope collectors begin to post their impressions of the new
service after examining some of their coins.

What about accurate and consistent grading first? Innovation later. I get
a "funny" feeling every time I see a post like this from a newbie out of the
blue.

You seem to be easy to impress.

Why?

My only concern, which I hope DGS can quickly solve, is getting themselves
allowed on eBay.

They ARE allowed on eBay.

While I may potentially like their coins, I need to be able to sell them
and I

ANA, along with PCGS and NGC, don't convince eBay to block this new

Why would eBay block it? Ebay hasn't blocked any other grading service.
Any slabbed coins can be listed on eBay as long as the seller follows eBay's
guidelines. If DGS-slabbed coins develop a respected reputation in the
hobby, they'll attract bidders on eBay regardless of how an auction might be
structured. Just takes time.

In short, collectors, I suggest we give this new company a chance.
Give their website a look and see all the new innovative things they
offer.

Aside from new and innovative things, how about accurate grading? And
please try to contain your enthusiasm.

Also, I hope collectors begin to post their impressions of the new
service after examining some of their coins.

Sounds like you've already made up your own mind BEFORE examining any of
their coins.

My suggestion, Bruce, as you appear to be a self declared "expert" was
simply to give the company a try. Perhaps a few inexpensive coins.
The funny feeling you have is a over indulgent sense of self
knowledge. I am not a "new" poster to this form, only one who has not
posted recently.

My comments in my initial posting were fair and only suggesting my
initial impressions. I clearly stated that I had not handled any of
their coins, only that I was impressed with certain things PRIOR to
the company even accepting submissions. Of course consistent and
conservative grading is important. That is a given.

People like you turn off people want to post on this board.

By your own admission, you have not seen an example of their grading,
yet you say you are "impressed".
Your initial posting sounded like nothing more than a stealth press
release for DGS.

You think?

Coin grading is a touchy subject. It's been an expensive subject for some
regulars in this NG. There's not a lot of love lost for the supporters of
the third-party graders and a very understandable wellspring of resentment
directed towards some of the principals of the fly-by-nighters.

It's kind'a like eBay.

We all know eBay works, and we are immediately suspicious of anyone touting
the benefits of some brand new competitor.

I thought Bruce's comments were quite reasonable and temperate.

I'll tell you what does turn people off this board - poorly disguised
commercial posts. You're not one of those, are you?

I said I had NOT seen any coins graded by them but was impressed by
the quick response of their president. I think you need to read the
posting closely. I am not sure why you have a chip on your shoulder
about DGC when YOU haven't seen any of their coins. Perhaps I should
have a funny feeling about you.

For years I have heard excellent things about DLRC and recently I have had a
half dozen excellent transactions with the company. Based on established
reputation and my personal experience, I also have a good feeling. I
already realize that I am easy to impress.

As previously noted, you appear to be easily impressed.
I'll reserve judgement on DGS until I see examples of their grading.

I can't see where the coin "industry" is crying out for another third
party grader. Not at all. And the start of your original post was
and is horse hockey, if you haven't seen their product in the "flesh"
er, slab.

Expert? If being dubious about the motives for your gratuitous post
suggests to you that I'm an expert, then you'll probably be eager to buy my
self-slabbed coins. And you're right. I do have an over indulgent sense
of self knowledge. I think.

If you haven't posted here recently, you have little or no credibility here
when it comes to touting a new grading service.

My comments in my initial posting were fair and only suggesting my

You were giving your "impressions" before even examining any DGS-slabbed
coins, by your own admission. It takes time for new grading companies to
have their products gain wide acceptance as accurate, consistent, and
marketable. If that eventually happens with GDS, good for them.
Otherwise, many collectors believe there are already enough slabbers out
there.

You also apparently haven't bothered to read eBay's auction criteria for
slabbed coins, based on your claim that DGC coins are not allowed there.

You just seem a little too eager to wish this particular company success,
what with all the others out there you already seem happy with.

People like you turn off people want to post on this board.

Sorry. I never realized I had so much power and influence on other posters.
Please, try to overcome my power and continue posting.
