Still Problem with Rockola 464
Still having problems with my rockola 464 not playing the second side.
1. you select say 201, it writes it in and throws the pin 2. then it starts to scan but never finds the pin. just keeps scanning. I cleaned the contacts on the side that writes is out but still no luck any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

It is probably the contact for the "B" selections (inside row of pins). If it were me.... I would:
1. Remove the Read Out Arm and carefully inspect the slip rings on the Wobble Plate Assembly for pits and or cracks. This is done by removing the bolt and nut from the Read Out Arm where it attaches to the Main Shaft. You will have to "flex" the arm somewhat because there is tension on it from the spring at the Indexing Adjustment Screw. 2. Clean the Wiper Contacts well with denatured alcohol and inspect solder joints at the contact blade connection loops and on the pin detection tension spring. 3. You will notice that there is a "spring loaded" contact associated with the A and B selection pins. When you push them toward the Read Out Arm Assembly Carriage Block, they are held in place by an "L" shaped piece of spring copper. Remove the mounting screw from the "L" shaped spring and clean the area where it contacts the pin detector head with a fiberglass etch brush or very, very light emory cloth. Do the same for he detector head. Then reassemble. The most likely reason is the last. However, not taking the time to do the first two may cause you to re-pull the Arm. When the selection pin is "set" and the detector contact moves over it, the detector contact will "wipe" against the contact pickup spring ("L" shaped thingy") and inherently keep the connection clean. Therefore, since the "A" sides are selected more frequently, they will not see this problem as often, if ever. Unfortunately, the "B" side is left to tarnish over time. |

Thanks I would also check the A-B snap switch (they call it snap switches but there is only one) for continuity on the B side .Page 12 in manual. Also would check for continuity from the switch terminals to the circuit board and the wiper arm. Cheers, Ray |
