I want to be a coin doctor
Haha, just kidding.
More specifically, I want to learn the techniques that coin doctors use so I can try them out on some common coins and see the results for myself, rather than as pictures in a book. How and where do I go about acquiring this type of knowledge? What would I need to know beyond detailed knowledge of the chemistry of coin metals? As a related question, I know the ANA has an extensive collection of counterfeit and altered coins used for educational purposes. How does one go about getting access to study them? And, do they have examples of cleaned or resurfaced coins in addition to altered/counterfeit specimens? Thanks, all. Paul |
