Default Of Mice and Men and a DeLillo brag

There is to be an auction here with some excellent books, even though
many are listed as firsts but aren't. I have my doubts about this
one...it has the points (dot between the 8's on page 88, and "pendula"
on page 9) but the DJ is price clipped. Actually, it is clipped on both
corners of the front flap. If only it had the $2.00 price, I would bid
and I'm tempted even with the clips. Could it be a first with a later
state jacket? Is it a book club? Any thoughts?

On my way out after the preview, I spotted a bookcase off to the side in
one of the rooms of the auction house. I asked one of the employees
about those books. They weren't to be auctioned with the others (as
they were 99% BC's and worse) but were available for purchase at .50
each. I casually placed "Players" by Don DeLillo and one other nothing
book on the counter, paid the dollar and walked out feeling fine!

If that book was scheduled for auction and you pawned it off as one of
the non-auction books, let's call what you did by it's true name,
Theft.

Excellent reading comprehension skills, you sanctimonious gasbag.
