FA: 1909 Lincoln Cent PCGS MS66RD NOT VDB
Victor D Brenner's initals, VDB, were placed at the bottom of the reverse for
the first Lincoln cents struck this year, the first of the new design. Later, folks complained about the prominent position of Brenenr's initials and the rest of the year and unil 1918, the coins were struck with NO initials! As a consequence, many thought the earlier VDB version would be very valuable someday and saved these coins in large quantities. The later version, this one, were not saved in such numbers. These are FAR scarcer in Gem than the more common 1909 VDBs. This is an outstanding example of the genre with wonderful surfaces and color. See it at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=3920139 244 Thanks! Ira Stein |
