Default TECH Rock-ola 476 issues

Hi all,

trying to get my Rock-ola 476 working. It has a couple issues,
however

The credit and selection now playing displays are VERY dim. But the
Hit tracker displays are normal brightness.

Also, The keyboard doesnt work like it should. Some numbers will
take, and some will not. I have already resoldered all the
connections on the keyboard PCB.

It seems like these problems both have to do with the profit setter
board...no?

Regardless I won a profit setter board on E-bay and when i installed
this one the record basket would just move non-stop...

So i guess what I need is info on how to fix my keyboard and my
displays...

thanks so much in advance

Josh

Josh,

Although I don't service vinyl jukes on a regular basis, I did cut my teeth on them back in the day.

As for the keyboard buttons being intermittent, I would try using a relay contact cleaner on the slide contact part of the switches. I have even had to burnish them with a burnishing tool to remove heavy tarnish in the past. The tool is made by GC and should be available at a local electronic parts retailer.

The dim display may be the result of either a poor connection on the power section of the header or possibly the display has "lived" its useful life. As these are a gas discharge display, they are inherently going to fail.
However, you may be correct that the driver(s) on the Profit Setter may be failing as well.

Unfortunately, I am home on medical leave following surgery and cannot access my schematics and manuals at the shop. If you don't find a cure for your problems, please repost and I will attempt to get that information for you.
