Well, you have to admit, the chinks do lend themselves to it. In all fairness I think it's a question of culture maybe. They feel that if someone is gullible enough to go for it that makes it somewhat OK. They are selling SOMETHING and it's up to the buyer to be sure of what is being bought. Here in NYC you can buy a Rolex for $30 in Chinatown and the comments you get are good watch, very good watch, you will like this watch, a number one watch. I've never heard this is a genuine Rolex fell off a truck. So someone buying one of those Rolex's at under 1% retail shouldn't feel taken. Then I can recount of being approached several times on the street by some would be salesman with a Rolex in a box with papers and stickers and a story...this rolex was purchased by my 'friend' with this credit card and here is the receipt...it's yours for $300 let's go to an ATM. Well, there's a whole bunch of problems with this BUT do you really think someone running this scam at 10% would do so with a real Rolex anyway, of course not just a flashier looking copy. If you had a stolen credit card I am sure that's the best you could do buy a $5,000 watch and sell it for a pittance. This is an ATM rip off scam you never get the pretty watch anyway. So I think these guys on ebay are like the first seller here not the second, but I haven't seen the auctions in question maybe the representation of the items cross the line. |

Even at that friendly semi-annual coin bourse down the road at the VFW
lodge across from the church in East Kumquat, I bet there's a fake SVDB... Being a VFW member, I find your statement highly prejudicial. |

Asia is a huge territory. I would agree upon the counterfeit coins point, and would add ripped-DVDs to the list. But there are some Chinese sellers with good deals on China-only merchandise. [...] If any USA based seller tried that on the same scale, they'd have the Secret Service knocking down their door quicker than you can say ****. Not if the USA citizen was selling counterfeit antique Chinese money. See how it works? |
