I think we should make it a coin, like Canada did.. And get rid of the Rag
Dollar too..

My preference would be for the elimination of the $2 bill (and the $1)
and replace it with a coin -- just like Canada, euroland, and so forth.

Why should we do something just because
the rest of the world does it?

Sometimes the rest of the world is right.

Not because the rest does it, but simply because it makes sense --
financially.

Rag dollars are costing us what, $600M per year to print replacements
for worn out notes.

A drop in the bucket as far as how the
US Govt. spends money. If everything that
was financially irresponsible was dropped
the govt. would probably collapse. (smile
face here).

IMO, It's not because the rest of the world does or does not do it, its
because it makes more sense.

I'm torn on this one. There Are indeed machines that accept the $2 bill and if it is
re-designed they will not accept them until re-programmed. Of course, there will be
re-designs of all the rags (except the $1) as part of the Next-Gen Currency.
The $20 will hit in the fall and boy will that cause problems with bill readers until
they get them re-programmed!

If re-programming can be done then let's go for a re-design. Even the multiple design
series proposed by the legislation that never got passed in the last congress.

Here's my 2 cents.

I would like to see a $1.00 and $2.00 coin. Prefer to see both bimetal and
made from some alloy that doesn't turn the ugly colors of the SAC. I like
the SAC design but after they've been in circulation for a little bit, they
turn really dull and ugly.

Why redesign the $2 bill. It's rarely used. Don't get me wrong on this, I do
spend them and send them to people to pay for purchases and such. I have to
go out of my way to get them, but they're cool.

Save the money and fund something less trivial with it, like education or
health care.

Art

PS I wouldn't mind see the $1 bill go, if the money was actually saved and
used to reduce the National Debt or something useful. NOT pay increases for
our politicians.

U.S. money, right? No $2 redesign. Discontinue the note. No $2 coin
either, go to $5 coin and do it now.

You asked!! ;-)

Have you seen what circulation does to Lincoln cents? There's your dull
and ugly. Personally, I think dull and ugly is a good thing. People are
attracted to shiny objects, and tend to hoard them. If the coins turn
dull and ugly, people are more likely to return them to circulation.

education or health care.

The money it would take to redesign the $2 is trivial compared to the
money that's wasted every year through continued production of one cent
coins and rag bucks.

Sounds like an apathetic response, part of the reason the Gov is so
irresponsible. The Sheeple do not force it to be accountable for its
actions. Not trying to flame you, simply saying that what we do now
isn't working nor smart.

Maybe it is apathetic because I just think it is that big a deal one way
or another.
