Born Christmas Day 1642.
Nature and nature's laws lay hid in night;
God said, 'Let Newton be' and all was light.
Alexander Pope

Most biographers ignore Sir Isaac Newton's tenure as Warden and Master
of the Mint. Berlinski
says unequivocally that these years are uninteresting. However, they
are THIRTY years of his life. In disguise, he pursued counterfeiters in
pubs and taverns - and as a justice of the peace, he extracted
confessions -- not through actual torture, of course...

Though deleted from the Wikipeda, you can still read about Newtonmas

This is my biography of Sir Isaac as Warden and Master of the Mint,
based on the essay for which the ANA granted me a second Heath Literary
Award.

In addition to being Warden and Master of the British Royal Mint, most
people know Newton for his Principia Mathematica. He invented calculus
in order to prove his physics. In other words, he brought theory and
practice together.
MERRY NEWTONMAS TO YOU!
