All newspapers that qualify for second class postage permits have

Where did you get this figure? The USPS reg is that pubs that qualify
for second-class postage must contain no less than 25 percent
editorial (no more than 75 percent advertising) in no more than half
of their issues in any year. But the actual percentages for various
publications are all over the place.

Advertising allows for lower subscription rates. But most people
ignore most if it. Same with all advertising -- TV, radio, etc. You
change the channel, get something to eat, or fast forward past it.
Anybody who only reads ads and ignores the real content of the
publication or program is either an advertising professional or wants
to be.

Ads have as their purpose to sell. Articles have as their purpose to
inform.
