I have a friend that was gung ho for Atari when it first came out and
managed to purchase one of the very first ones, through some
connection. The serial number of the unit is "00000007." (I don't
know how many zeroes there are.) I have never seen a serial number
that low for a comsumer product. She died, but her husband probably
still has it. I'll ask him about it next time I see him.
