Default Counterfeit money turns up on college campus

From the Michigan State University newspaper column "Police briefs":

"A clerk at Brody Hall's convenience store received two counterfeit $5 bills
from unknown suspects on Friday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
Apparently, two college-age men asked to exchange the two $5 bills for a $10
bill. A 20-year old university employee, who reported the counterfeit bills,
told police the men did not seem suspicious. Federal officials are investigating
the incident. They have no suspects."

My guess is that two students were fooling around with a scanner and decided
to see if they could get away with passing the fake bills.
