Argentina to Release a New Series of Banknotes on May 2010
The Central Bank of Argentina plans to issue a new series of banknotes
to commemorate the Bicentenary of the Revolution of May next year. The new series will gradually replace those currently in circulation. The bank originally proposed to replace the front of the notes with figures from the world of science and the arts. This idea has now been discarded. The new series will retain the heros on the existing notes. Intead of historical monuments, the reverse of the new series will show pictures of tourist centers in Argentina, such as the Train to the Clouds, the Iguazu Falls and the Perito Moreno glacier. The new series will be released into circulation on May 25, 2010. http://tomchao.com/archive.html |
