Value of this error?

This is my second attempt to post this. I'm not sure if the first post

made
it because it received no responses and I'm wondering if people were just
impatient waiting for the pictures to load, so I'll only post one picture
this time. I could have just mucked it up and no one even saw the post.
Anyhow, thanks for checking it out.

Hi Rob.
Nice error. There's some folk here who will be interested.
Those red reflections from the Mavica are a pest, aren't they!

Why does your page set cookies and spend so much code analysing the referrer domain?

Just wondering.

My domain host forces the ads to be on the page. I'd have to pay more to
have them removed. I delete them and they bounce back! I had someone that
does web pages for a living and she said it's impossible to avoid them. I
don't really use the website except for things like posting a picture of a
coin, so I live with it.

Some news servers will automatically delete posts with binary
attachments to non-binary groups like RCC. I've seen all your posts. ;-)

Bummer.

Still, there are free image hosting sites about...
Or even better, alt.binaries.pictures.numismatic (if you can get it)

Still - that's one heck of an error.
Keep waiting. Someone will give you a better idea of its worth. (Beyond me)

Perhaps you could Google a dealer who specialises in error?? Just a thought.

That would have to be the most spectacular error I have ever seen.

Excellent coin Rob.
My suggestion for getting an idea of it's value is to take a look at the
online
inventories of some of the larger error specialists. Here are a few:
http://www.fredweinberg.com/
http://byersnc.com/
http://www.errorcointrader.com/
http://www.richerrors.com/

Of course you will not see a double strike exactly like yours, but you can
start
to get a feel for what a coin like yours might sell for. For example,
here is a nice double struck Kennedy that lists for 2K
http://byersnc.com/inventory/21289537e.jpg

After some browsing, you may want to email one of the dealers and ask them
what it is worth to them. You may also want to check out
http://www.minterrornews.com
They have a glossary and some tech info on errors that might help you
understand the description of your coin.

Again - excellent coin!

Hi,

I would appreciate any guestimates anyone would have of this Kennedy Error
my father recently had slabbed. We are just dabblers in coins. He's had

this
for a long time and someone finally convinced him it should be slabbed.

I'm
grateful he went with NGC and not some slabber working in his basement.

Nice coin, hopefully. However, I am _very_ skeptical of all
spectacular 1964-dated error coins, due to a large number of
counterfeits of these (See, for example, Lonesome John Devine's
_Detecting Counterfeit Coins, Book 1_), including seeing one
recently slabbed (by ANACS, in this case). If I were you, I
would contact Fred Weinberg, as he has a good eye for these
things (www.fredweinberg.com to get his e-mail). I really do
hope it's real though. (And it doesn't have prooflike surfaces,
which is a good thing.)
