This 2-Voume Book set titled, (The Music of the Modern World, Illustrated in the Lives and Works of The Greatest Modern Musicians and in Reproductions of Famous Painters, Etc.) by Anton Seidl (editor in chief), Assisted by Fanny Morris Smith; H.E.Krehbiel, Consulting Editor; W.S.Howard, Art Editioris. The books are in very good condition. It is published by D. Appleton and Company, New York, First Edition, Copyright 1895. The books are 236 pages (in the 2 volume set) with many full-page photogravures in b/w and color. The first volume is titled, Section 1 Text and the second volume is titled, Section II Text. There are many full-page color tipped-in Plates. The books cover all aspects of music history from opera, great singers, evolution of the orchestra, great violinists, evolution of the horn, evolution of dance, German opera, Brass Band, American and European musical artists, development of Church music, and much more. There are beautiful full page colored plates, with many composers pictured. This is a great 2-volume set on the history of music. The books are large and measure 12 inches x 16 inches. They are in very good condition. There are a couple of loose pages (inside cover page) and the spine is a little weak, but all together and no missing pages.
