John,
In your ad, you state:
"All are in good condition. I don't call them "like new" because a
previous owner stamped each volume number on the top edge/face of the
pages (visible only when each book is closed)."

Is that the ONLY reason that you didn't call them "like new"? Looking
at the ONE picture you show, it appears that the cloth coverings on
the spines appear to be dimpled. For books that are 100 years old to
be "like new" would require care and diligence that are beyond most
(all?) people and institutions.

If you get any bidders, congratulations! And I'd forget about buying
any Lotto tickets :)

It is a shabby-looking set, no question about it.
Conversely, if you see a picture of an Edition
de Medicis (the set published by Dana Estes)
you are sure to agree it is most impressive,.
The boards are half-calf (I mean authentic
"half-calf" with the required corner pieces),
The part of the boards not covered by the
calf are marbled paper, and the endpapers
are also marbled. Also, each volume
does not merely have a frontispiece, but
rather has several lithographic plates
protected by tissue guards. That Collier
set with the cheap, dimpled cloth is a reading
set only, and should be listed as such. If he
can get someone to give him one dollar per
book he should grab that and consider himself
very lucky.

You might have a "fine" copy, but it would not
really be "like new" because it could not
possibly smell new.

Yes, though as you say, I'm not a book dealer. If you ask specific
questions I'll be happy to answer them. If you have advice about the
terminology I should or shouldn't be doing, I can fix it on the second
try if there is one.

In all due respect sir, please understand that this is
a newgroup for book collectors. In my view, you
made a mistake by even bringing up the matter of
that cheap Colliers' Dumas "reading set" in this forum.
It is perfectly appropriate on ebay. No one can
blame you for trying to get as much as you can in
that venue, like everyone else who tries to sell things
there. Basically the same goes for rec.marketplace
books. Your posting would be perfectly appropriate
over there also. However, you simply do not have a
Dumas set of the the quality that a serious collector
of classics could respect. That may be a bit blunt,
but it is the best advice I can give you.
