Have a question about a very old dollar bill i have. Read for detials
i have a old dollar bill w/ some signatures all over it...was this a tradition in the olden days??
just curious...probably nothing..but the signatures are really nice as far as penmanship goes and it's this nice deep brown color...wish i could make out some of the names..perhaps they are autographs of famous ppl or maybe just signatures of friends...but anyways..just was wondering.. i also have some others..i'll break them out in a minute and do another post..interesting in knowing how much they are worth. |
If the note is of W.W.II vintage it's probably army buddies that have
signed the note, they are collectable. Not sure about the 'olden days' but there was something in World War 2 called a 'Short Snorter' which fits your description http://www.447bg.com/library/shortsnort.html As to value... no idea. |

Billy So your saying having names scrawled on currency can in certain circumstances actually increase value ? I have a WW2 Hawaii $1 note with names on the back, and figured that would just abour cripple its value. lid wrote: i have a old dollar bill w/ some signatures all over it...was this a tradition in the olden days?? just curious...probably nothing..but the signatures are really nice as far as penmanship goes and it's this nice deep brown color...wish i could make out some of the names..perhaps they are autographs of famous ppl or maybe just signatures of friends...but anyways..just was wondering.. i also have some others..i'll break them out in a minute and do another post..interesting in knowing how much they are worth. |

Sometimes it's the note with some history behind it that has more value than the pristine UNC thing that sat in a drawer somewhere. I'd take the short snorter note over an UNC Hawaii _any_ time. I wouldn't pay more than circulated value for the thing, mind. Padraic. la cieurgeourea provoer mal trasfu ast meiyoer ke 'l andrext ben trasfu. |

I'm a big fan of history, but don't see how random, faceless names scrawled on a note could be a merit. For the people who wrote them, sure .. But Bob Jones name on a note does not ring my historic bell. |

You can wonder about who Bob Jones was, what the hell he was doing in Hawaii at the time, is he one of the ones down in one of the sunken ships or did he escape? You know, historical ruminations. I'm not saying it's superior to choosing the UNC note, just what I would do given the choice. Padraic. la cieurgeourea provoer mal trasfu ast meiyoer ke 'l andrext ben trasfu. |
