Tunesia to Issue New 50 Dinar Banknote on July 25, 2009
After meeting with President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali on Wednesday,
Mr Taoufik Baccar Governor of Tunisia’s Central Bank (BCT) announced the launch of a new 50 dinar banknote. The launch will take place on July 25 on the occasion of Tunisia’s celebration of the Republic. The banknote will represent the literary scholar Ibn Rachiq Al Kairouani who was born in Mhamdia near Tunis, a poet, writer and literary critic, and will also coincide with the celebration of Kairouan as Capital for Islamic Cultural 2009. The new 50 dinar banknote will be added to the four types of banknotes currently in circulation in Tunisia, namely 5 dinar notes, 10 dinar notes, 20 dinar notes and 30 dinar notes. http://tomchao.com/archive.html |
