New online petition for Brits who use money
http://www.petitiononline.com/scotnote/petition.html
We the people of Britain would like to see the security futures on Scottish Irish and English (£50) notes to be improved to make it harder for Counterfeiters to copy, As far As I can some Scottish Banks notes do not visible silver strips Watermarks or more importantly Holograms. Since the New English notes (£5 £10 £20) came out with Holograms it had become much easier to check if a bank note is real because it can be determined by the reflection on the hologram and by the intricate cuttings around it. Scottish notes appear to have no holograms, Micro lettering, UV lettering or on some notes sewn in Silver strips. They do have strips of metal on the inside, on the notes that have strips that aren't sewn in, but this cannot be seen unless held up to the light, and it can be reproduced fraudulently without it being obvious that it is in fact two pieces of paper glued together on higher quality fakes. I was myself was a victim of thinking that if there is a solid black line down the middle when held up to the light and it doesn't look like it is two pieces of paper glued together then it must be real. :chainsaw: I found out the hard way after having a closer look at the note later on. I have also notice that in recent years most of the counterfeits I have seen here in England are Scottish so therefore they must be seen by forgers as a soft touch. Improving the security of Scottish note would also improve the credibility and usability of Scottish notes in the rest of the UK. --- (sorry cant gat a tags to work) |
