Dozens of Dealers at Americover 2009 July 31-Aug. 2 in Mass.
Dealers and cachetmakers from 20 states and Ontario will have booths
at Americover 2009, the annual show and convention of the American First Day Cover Society, July 31-August 2. The show is being held at the Holiday Inn, 242 Adams Place, in Boxborough, Mass., about 11 miles from Minute Man National Historic Park. Admission and parking are free. Americover 2009 is a World Series of Philately show with 180 frames of competitive exhibits, dozens of meetings and seminars, social events, and the announcement of the winners of the AFDCS' annual cachet contest. The show also has two bourses: The main dealers bourse, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday; and a cachetmakers bourse Saturday evening, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The main bourse features nearly three dozen dealers from as far away as Oregon and Florida. While most sell first day covers, their specialties also include topicals, postal history, flight covers and better U.S. and foreign stamps. The 22 cachetmakers hail from as far away as California and Colorado, and include three past winners of the top winners of the AFDCS cachetmakers contest and possibly the winner of this year's contest. (We won't know who that is until Friday evening, July 31st, just that he or she has a table at the bourse.)
