Philippines to Issue a New Series of Banknotes in 2011
 

The central bank last month announced plans to redesign all of the
country's bank notes and coins, the first major facelift in over two
decades. The new series is expected to be unveiled in two years.

The front of the yellow P500 bank note currently features the image of
Mr. Aquino, a journalist turned politician whose assassination in 1983
led to the 1986 People Power revolution.

The late president Corazon "Cory" Aquino who dies August 1, 2009 may
share the honor of being featured on P500 note together with her
husband.
