This book titled, Deeds of Valor, is in excellent condition. The full title is, Deeds of Valor From the Records in the Archives of the United States Government, How American Heroes Won the Medal of Honor, History of Our Recent Wars and Explorations, is written by Brig-General H. M. Duffield, U.S.V. This is Only Volume I of a 2-set Volume publication. The book is published by The Perrien-Keydel Company, Detroit, Michigan, Copyright 1906. The book is 558 pages and is a comprehensive detailed book on United States Medal of Honor Winners from the Civil War until the turn of the 19th century. During this time, about 1,400 of these medals were granted to include the Civil War, the Indian Wars, and Spanish War (26 medals awarded). During this time, nearly 2 million men served in these wars. The book is the official record of these men describing the stories of the heroic deeds, man of the individual, his company and regiment, and character of his achievement. The details of the book were verified by the medal bearers, their superior officers, other witnesses, and military records. The chapters start with the Medal of Honor winners from the First Battle of Bull Run. The book has photographs of each MOH winner as well as ink drawing and colored drawings of battles and engagements. This is a fantastic rare book. Unfortunately, this is only Volume I. The book measures 8 inches x 11 inches. The book is in very good condition. There are no loose, torn, or missing pages. There are no stains or water marks.
