John Stone
A concept that has worked outside sports venues will make its debut
this Sunday
night during the St. Louis Rams vs Baltimore Ravens NFL game. Fans
will be able
to buy prepaid "fastbreak" cards that will allow them to get in a
special line for
concessions and hopefully allow them to get their beer...

Larry Louks
Hi Folks,
I made my first submission to NGC a couple of weeks ago. I sent in ten

Flight. I got them back today. To my happy surprise, one Proof, one FF, and
three L&C came back as 70's. (The other five were graded 69.)Since...

It was also made in either 2003 or 2004.
It's amazing what those "old estates" can contain.

"How The West Was Faked" by
Ed. Stoebenau
http://people.pwf.cam.ac.uk/tvb1/how/how.html
This is a website put together by John Kleeburg and T V Buttrey,
about fake western assay bars, mainly those made in the 1950's
and later. It is, for the most part, very well done, though of
course I do have some quibbles I'll list below.
The subject...

"Improving" your coins by
Reid Goldsborough
This is an example of the kind of topic that gets me in trouble here
g, a controversial topic, but yet one that I find interesting and
compelling, one worthy of thinking about and writing about: cleaning
coins.
Attitudes among collectors are much different from attitudes among
dealers, and...

"It is better to give than receive" by
saved92
I collect United States of America coins. Only!!!
I collect them only, because in my opinion they are the most beautiful the
world has to offer.
I collect them for the history that each individual coin carries with it. A
history that we could never know, but one we could dream or imagine...

"Karats" by weight or volume? by
Don A. Gilmore
Hi guys:
Are karats (like of gold) measured by weight or by volume? Most of what I
read implies that karats are measured by weight (24k being pure gold), but
that just doesn't make any sense. If karats are determined by weight, you
would have to know exactly what the alloying metals were to...

"Legal Tender" by

Hi Folks,
I recently got a bunch of Kennedy halves from my bank, picking through them
to put together a circulated set of Kennedys. Rather than taking them back
to the bank when I was finished looking through them, I decided to spend
them here and there around the community. (My thinking was "When...

"Libertadum Defendum" ?? by
LRC-Tom
Does this ring a bell with anyone? I had someone call me today, saying
they had a piece dated 1787, copper (or similar) with an Indian on the
front, with a legend (on the obverse) of "Libertatum Defendum"?
I never heard of such a piece...I told him it was probably a token or
medal, but I really...
