Please see http://cjoint.com/?hpdGAVnBLg (227k)
Is this Michel Automatenmarken Switzerland #5? Here is a scan of the
catalogue page: http://cjoint.com/?hpdInOjDvz (283k, zoomable)
I do not know enough German to make out the criteria for the different
varieties. Additionally, I do not know the...

(RCSD) US-question by
Mette
Yesterday, July 12th, I received a very nice get-well card from a friend in
Florida, franked with two recent stamps, which according to Virtual Stamp
Club were issued on July 10th. But the cover was cancelled in Florida on
July 7th -- three days prior to being released...

Greenland stamps by
Jan[_4_]
Hi,
As a newbie stamp collector, I'd like to ask your opinion on 2 questions
I'm struggling with:
1. Imagine a block of 4 Greenlandic stamps with numbered margin,
cancelled with a 1st Day cancellation.
Is the value of such a block of 4, determined by having a numbered
margin, or by its 1st Day...

First Day Cover Collection by
Jim Pettway[_2_]
I am trying to assist someone who has inherited a collection of FDCs, United
States and Great Britain, with their disposition. These are all cachet
covers obtained through subscription services (Fleetwood, Postal
Commemorative Society, Westminster Collectors Society, etc.). There are
about 60...

Spain question by
Tony Vella
I was just asked a question off-line and I pass it along to the group as I
have no answer. A collector of Spanish stamps heard that there was a 1
peseta Macarena issue (also on May 31, 1964) perforated 15 or slightly more.
I have a mint and a used in my collection and both are 13x12.5. Has...

APS: StampStore or circuits? by
Joshua McGee[_3_]
Because I do not have tens of thousands of items to sell, only several
hundred, it would seem to behoove me to aggregate my material in with
other sellers' items, so that shipping costs don't scare potential buyers
away.
The American Philatelic Society offers two services to this end. For...

Palestine overprint stamps by
didi
Hi,
Can anyone shed light on the issues of 1994 where handstamped circular
"FILS" postmarks have been applied to replace the MILS imprint.
Apparently these stamps have local character in that they were
produced in Yericho only. Thus they are supposedly not officially
authorised.
Is this the...

Do you know of any references for the local provisional "Blockade" issues of
Indonesia that were used intra-island just prior to those printed in Vienna,
Austria. Also, do you know of any references for the Japanese and local
overprinted stamps of Netherlands Indies from WWII and prior to...

Steve Eserati by

In case some may not be aware of it, Steve Eserati is shutting down
his operations. He has had a rough time with heart failure, cancer and
diabetes.
Steve is THE guru of coil plate number stamps.
He will be missed.

Mustelidae checklist up to 412 stamps by
Joshua McGee[_3_]
With the excellent assistance of Jill from Melbourne, the Mustelidae
(weasel family) thematic checklist which I have been constructing is up
to 412 entries. Anyone want to review a copy before I clean one up for
the American Topical Association?

OT - Money matters by

After reading all the noise about Zimbabwe mind boggling money values
started my ancient head wheels turning.
Suppose I had a million dollar stack of twenty dollar bills (US$), how
high would the stack be?
Yes, I know there is a big difference in the thickness of used bills
and new...

2009 Scott Catalogues under Linux by
Joshua McGee[_3_]
Can't remember if I've asked this yet:
Has anyone tried (successfully or unsuccessfully) to use the 2008 or 2009
digital Scott Stamp Catalogues in Linux?
Acrobat Reader is available there, and AFAIK is used to read the files in
Windows, but as I understand from the sparse technical information...

This film is about a German rocket scientist going
to a remote Scottish island to help develop a rocket
for improving the postal service.
The scenery is breathtaking. Blue skies, white sand,
green pastures and authentic cottages are just a few
