(RCSD) Sales venues that don't suck? by
Joshua McGee[_3_]
1. eBay: Arrogant and/or unreachable staff, and they take all your money
on small sales.
2. StampWants: Arrogant staff, and a founder who believes the United
States deserves dozens of specialized categories and most other countries

Russia question - St. Petersburg by
biglou
Sorry for the repeat port, but I thought I might do better with
"Russia" in the subject line. :-)
Do you have any knowledge or interest on the St. Peteresburg overprints
& provisionals of 1992?
Here are some on cover - maybe you can help me identify them?

(RCSD) Catalogue number cross-reference please by
Joshua McGee[_3_]
I am interested in the German Empire 10 p. carmine stylized eagle/phoenix
(which?) from their last set before the turn of the century.
The stamp is Scott 48. I just learned it's YT 47. Anyone have Gibbons
or Michel numbers they could share? Does Michel list a multitude of
varieties that I...

Censor "skips" by
Bobstamp
I have a few international covers in my WWII collection, from varous
countries, which were not censored. In some cases, de facto censorship
was carried out via currency export control inspections, but other
covers show no evidence of even cursory censorship. I have two British
covers, for example:...

Help with Flemish (Dutch) Word by
[email protected]
I just looked up "KAS" and I was translated to "fund". I doubt that
was right. I checked other sites and it came closer to "case" or
"cabinet".
Now, on the bottom of some Antwerp RR stamps, I see KAS Nr. 1 and KAS
Nr. 2.
Any clues, anyone? Thanks.

(RCSD) Book suggestion by
Joshua McGee[_3_]
This may be in all of your libraries already, but I would like to
recommend Kenneth Wood's 1982 three-volume set called "This Is
Philately". It is an extraordinary reference for the meanings of foreign
words, aspects of our hobby, and information about different nations.
It also provides a...

'Above' or 'Below' when replying to a post by
John Tollan
When replying to posts here what is the accepted convention (or rule!) -
do you begin your reply above the previous post or below it? And why?
Thanks:

British Field Post Offices by
Richard Thouin[_2_]
Hi
I am trying to locate lists of British Field Post Offices in WWI and
WWII. No luck Googling. Is there such a list on the net? A pricing or
rarity index would also be useful.
Is there only one set of numbers or do the Army, Navy and Air Forces
each have their own set?
If there is no...

Pinging by
Ralphael1
What the heck is wrong with pinging someone on the newsgroup?
I think it is a very good way to make a point that may interest others
in the newsgroup. The ping with my name on it was very helpful since
it brought forth stamp collecting information I was not aware of.
Like spam, if one doesn't want...

(RCSD) Italy Postage Due question
This stamp appears to come from the Italian
postage due series of 1870-1925, however I
cannot find a 3 cent. value listed in Scott.

Could anyone please give me a pointer on
this stamp? Maybe it is in Sassone or

A local chap sent me a piece of additional information to go into the

making the changes I decided to investigate the information for accuracy and
source. Like almost everyone here I rely quite a bit on internet search...

Hi Everyone!
I scanned and posted on my website the new Israeli stamps

AIDS stamp mysteries by
Aaron Lawrence
Hi,
The users of this group have always been a font of knowledge, so I
thought I'd tap your collective brainpower again. This time I have a
few mysteries I want to solve.
First -- just an FYI. I run www.aidsonstamps.com. It's a site about,
you guessed it, AIDS/HIV on stamps. These questions...

(RCSD) Cyprus and the Euro by
Blair (TC)
A while ago, I wrote in this group about Cyprus, its changeover to the
Euro and
any effect on its stamps..
Well I can now report that the government of Cyprus decided to issue
dual
currency stamps to ease the transition for residents.
As an example, I offer links to the June 2008 Olympics set. ...
