Commemerative coin question by
Russell
Alot of the new issues have the same coin, same mint mark, but one unc
and one proof. Do you guys think both are need for a collection, or
just one example?
Just wondering what the group thinks.

1933 Double eagles taken by Mint by
The Meadows Family
Does anyone besides me find it a little troubling that the mint has had in
their posession 10 1933 double eagles for almost a year without anyone
knowing about it. Even more troubling is that they are refusing to return
the coins to the family that has held them for so many years. Big...

Coin Pictures by
don't look
Hey all,
Just got a new digital camera. It's a Canon A560. It's not the greatest
but,I've heard good things about it.It's what I could afford. I'm hoping
it's good enough for coin pics.
So, I know almost nothing about photography. Could some give me some
pointers on settings you use, such as...

No more US coin designs for me :( (Maryland state quarter) by
D Carr
Well it looks like I won't be designing (or submitting) any more designs for US coins.
I was not selected to be in the US Mint's "Artistic Infusion Program" (AIP). Those artists
(and regular US Mint staff) will be the only ones creating artwork for coins.
Unfortunately, there is no longer any...

Hi all,
Is it my imagination, or do coins in ANACS holders tend to tone

Remember when? by
Chip Flintknapper
When I was a kid back in the 1960's, there were coins in circulation
that were dated all the way back to 1909. In fact, if you had the money,
you could go to the bank and get silver dollars dated all the way back
to 1878.
What exactly happened to our money? I've heard all of the excuses, but
none...

icg or anacs for beginner and getting coins graded! by
Retire to Italy
hello all
Just wondering has anyne a BIG preference as to whether ti use ICG or
ANACS as a newcomer to having coins graded.
The reason I pick these two is both accept coins direct with much
formality and are reasonably price wise ie $10 to $15 if you do not
need express return.
I notice of all...

Should I Invest in Coins or Bars? by
DP Roberts
I would like to start investing in precious metals, but I'm not sure
where to start.
I know nothing about coin collecting and don't really want to get into
speculating future value based on collectibility - nor do I want to
start purchasing older coins for their collectable value.
So should I...

Local coin dealers beware - they might come to your town by
JSTONE9352
I just saw an ad in the local newspaper for a coin appraiser coming to a local
bank to look at your old coins and if you are interested in selling them they
will gladly buy them from you.
These are the people that established coin dealers hate to see coming to
an area, take out ads in the local...
