Scott Specialized US Catalogue: help needed by
Joshua McGee[_2_]
Would someone with a Scott Specialized Catalogue of US Stamps and
Covers on CD please contact me off-list? My CD never made it back
into its case last time, and I need lookup assistance.
Thanks.

Madeira ID. by
rodney
If I have this Id as correct,
is someone able to explain this plant, and why it appears
in "sub tropical" fruit?
I only recognise this a sa plant I sometimes grow
and place on the front porch, nothing to do with fruit.

Thursday Island, Queensland, Aus by
Gazza
Just back from a visit to Aus which included a couple of days there. Posted
myself a couple of post cards -
http://www.100megsfree3.com/glaw/thursday/scan0002.jpg
The pearl shell cancel is still going. The old PO is somewhat the worse for
wear and could do with a paint - but then so could most...

Accuracy problems by
Ralphael1
I make a catalog list of my mini collections and prefer them to be
accurate. I find this is not possible.
Date of issue quite often is different between Scott, WNS, Postbeeld
and the issueing country. I use the country date for the new issues
but issues older than a year are not available.
I can...

Using Google to complete town postmarks by
Joshua McGee[_2_]
Google has gotten quite good at fixing spelling "errors".
Occasionally it is overly-eager: I was once searching for someone with
the surname "Cassidey". Google asked, "Did you mean CASSIDY?" There
was NO button for 'no', and all the pages, as far as I could tell,
matched for either. Made the...

Postmark ID (no4?) Poland and KUT by
malcolm
1. Poland. A modern (ish) stamp Dzierzonio??? ( w? ). I think this is
58 200 postcode( in Lower Silesia), using "fallingrain" and wikipedia.
However the problem is that the "anglicization" of non-English letters
in the Polish language is inconsistent, and fallingrain shows a number
of variations....

Scott numbering system by
Ralphael1
Scott numbering system is about to send me to the funny farm where all
good wackos go.
Example: Catalog note after Scott 2597, "Nos. 2595-2597 also available
in strips spaced for use in affixing machines to service first day
covers."
In my opinion that is a coil strip and needs a number, Scott...

Archery Topical. by
rodney
http://cjoint.com/data/hni7E0vrT6.htm
It reputedly takes its name from the practice of archery there during the
Middle Ages,
although the name is also commonly linked to its reputation as a haunt for
highwaymen.
As the name also implies, the district is centred upon a hill - one of the
highest...

Postmarks~Intertwined ropes. by
rodney
Thanks for all replies.
I wonder if the "intertwined ropes" (don't know what else to call them) in
the cancellation are intended to represent or depict something: an
organization, a festival, a commemmoration?
TIA again.
