Parker Duofold Deluxe questions by sbsawler
I've just purchased a Parker Deluxe Fountian pen and seek some details. The pen seems quite old but I'm not certain how to date it. Suggestions? The black nib on the back of the barrel screws off and there is a 'pin' which turns. I believe this is what is used to charge the pen with ink (like the...

Question on keping seals soft. by Earl Camembert
Is there any thing that can be mixed with water or Ammonia that would keep seals soft and pliable. I know that there many products that work wonders for automobiles but would dissolve a pen. Any use any thing that worked and not clogged or melted the pen?

Great Essay on the power of the handwritten word by John
I came across the following essay by Edmund Morris from the 1/16/95 issue of the New Yorker. Some of you may have read this -- I think it is a quite eloquent and powerful reminder of the power of the handwritten word. Here's the link: http://www.newyorker.com/printable/?archive/040614fr_archive02

Restoring Lettering on Pens & Pencils by HalfHyde
Someone told me that it is possible to restore colored lettering, gold or otherwise, that one finds on advertising pens and pencils. I have several that have faded lettering and I would like to have them in their original condition. Is this something I can do myself or is this something I have to...

Penman Ink by don
Ada Ma, Take a look at www.websterspenshop.co.uk and navigate your way to the refills page for Parker. They have Penman ink listed in Ebony, Mocha, Ruby and Emerald but also state that it is not for shipment outside GB. Period. I found the ink at another site that would ship to the US but for 35...

where have the extortionately priced penman auctions gone? by Ada Ma
Hi folks, A couple of years ago I often find Parker penman ink being sold for $30 plus a bottom on the eBay. Now I know that the penman ink is being re-released but FP users are weird in that they often prefer old ink to new ones (count the number of dip well Sheaffer in your hoard!), so I...

Black Mont Blanc fountain pen Ink appears BROWN on page by Blarney
I was given a Mont Blanc fountain pen for Christmas about six years ago. I've never really used it, mainly because I can never get the ink to look right when I'm writing. I bought an expensive vial of black Mont Blanc ink from Office Depot, however when I fill the pen and write with it, the ink on...

President Bush and his Sharpie by John
I recall reading in more than one place that the President often uses a Sharpie to make notes or even edit documents. Best that I can figure is the guy a) likes felt tips (I understand the official pen and bill signer is a Cross Townsend Selectip Felt) and b) the permanent ink is good for...
