Pocket jewelry... by [email protected]
I have two, or at least had two, of the CE pens and they write very well; better than several of my far more expensive pens. The reason I say "had" two of them, a very good friend tried one of mine and loved it; it is now hers. I would not spend more on the 18k nib, the difference will primarily...

How do the new Parker 51's stand up against the old? by Robert Chin
Any opinions? Are the newly reissued Parker 51's like a lot of modern expensive fountains that are "all show and no go"? Do they write as well as the old ones? Do they start up everytime like the old ones? I really would like a Parker 51. I know I can get a vintage one for short money. OTOH,...

Bob Hope's fountain pen by Ron Wilbanks
As we all know, entertainment legend Bob Hope passed on to the big stage in the sky yesterday. I was wondering what type of fountain pen did Hope use? I saw a film clip of him using what looked like a Parker 51 the other night. Anyone know what he liked to use? Thanks for the memories Bob, we...

What is Your Favorite Nib Size or style? by Scaupaug
Also, this month I added another in my growing collection of computer desktop wallpapers. I've become fascinated with WASP, one of Sheaffer's off-brand names, and my new wallpaper features the latest addition to my pen collection, an Oversize WASP Clipper. The plungers have THE best celluloid...

Filcao Forever: RIP by Matt Gabriel, Mad Poet of Newport
Well, the Filcao came unscrewed from its cap riding around clipped to my pants pocket. Ink everywhere? No, because the nib bent all the way over the feed, ruining the pen. Dunno if I'm going to order another. I may go with the Monteverde Intima instead... not as tiny or robust as the metal...

Clear Ink by Nancy Handy
Yesterday I bought a cute cheapie rollerball that was by a cash register. I thought it was kind of cool that it wrote with clear ink from its transparent ink chamber. The ink comes out the color of the cap, which in this case was purple. It also comes in blue and pink. It's the Uni-ball...

Inkflow from Convertors vs. Cartridges by Nancy Handy
Over the years, I've noticed that when I get a new pen with a convertor the inkflow is stingy. When I remove the convertor and replace it with a cartridge, the inkflow becomes normal. Then I continue to use the cartridge and refill it with the ink of my choice. I was reminded of this just...
