Highest priced US banknote sold by
[email protected]
What was the highest priced banknote ever sold for modern notes? I
notice that the $10,000 and $5,000 US Dollar are usually the highest
valued ones. Perhaps a star note 10K would fetch the most. But what
was the highest? (I think 100K would be out of the question because
you can't own...

Right handed by
note.boy
The vast majority of Scottish bank tellers over the last 70 to 80 years
have been right handed.
How do I know this is true? Billy

ultra newbie by
budd_p
I'm such a newbie, I'm embarassed to ask this question:
I recently purchased over 3000 pesos from someone on EBay. Earlier
today, I read that one of the notes is "obsolete".
Does this mean that I can't exhange these "out of circulation" notes
at my local bank for U.S. currency?
I feel like I...

Your Favourite Babe on a Banknote?? by
Scottishmoney
What or even who is your favourite babe on a banknote? Mine is the lassie
on the Provincial Bank of Ireland £5 note from the late 1970's and through
the mid 1980's. That would change to Norway if they put their Olympic Beach
Volleyball team on a commemorative this year though.

(Possibly) Stupid Question by
Leggette
In my business, I frequently see $100 bills with small images stamped on
them.
They seem to be stamped with a rubber stamp or similar device, and are
approximately 1/4 inch in diameter.
Examples: a single Chinese character in red, a purple unicorn head, a blue
crescent moon and star, and a...

1995 $2 star note by
Dale E. Sharp
I'm basically a coin collector, but I got one of these at the bank
yesterday. It has been folded in quarters so it has three creases, but is
otherwise OK. Is this worth keeping in this condition?

Very Unique 5 Dollar Bill by
Joe
Today, The teenage receptionist at my doctor's office gave me a
strange looking 5 Dollar Bill as change. It's the old version with a
Series of 1963. What really makes this unique I thought was that the
serial numbers on the bottom left and the top right are printed in red
ink. Also, the round...

1000 francs note by
Italosvizzero
Does anyone know if the Swiss 1000 francs note is the highest circulating
note in the world? If it is, I guess the 500 euro would come in second
place.
Thanks.

1935 $10 bill question by
Rico
I have come across a $10 Silver Certificate 1934 A,with a yellow seal.
I see only 2 listing for $10 bills with yellow seals - 1934 and 1934 A North
Africa.
Wouldn't a NA bill have it stamped on the front and back, like Hawaii ?
Mine does not.
A plain 1934 yellow seal is worth considerable $$$,but...

eBay grading hurting hobby?? by
Gene
Overgraded, misdescribed notes on eBay are hurting the paper money
collecting hobby.. HERE is why: Occasionaly, I receive a package of
notes in the mail from a seller who wants to get rid of them. Many
times, the notes are accompanied by a list, with GRADES for each note.
I have noticed, over the...

eBay deceptions/lies - - - by
Gene
I KNOW I am "barking at the moon", but I still wonder WHY something
cant be done about the lies some sellers tell, to help sell their
items... For instance, there is a seller with an uncut sheet of South
Carolina $5 and $10 notes. He states that these notes "Book around
$100 each". "Book around...

Colour $20 USA by
note.boy
I saw one for the first time today, living in Scotland may explain why
it took so long, and it's nice.
I was a bit disappointed when I put it under a UV lamp as I expected the
many "20" on the back to light up but they didn't. :-(
The only UV ink used is a vertical strip on both sides. Billy

Old notes found by
Rico
Have come across two old notes and was wondering if anyone might have some
info about them.
One is a 'Bank of the Republic' 5 dollar bill from the state of Rhode Island
dated 1855.
The paper feels very thin, and is only printed on the front .. so genuine or
not I don't know.
The other is a CSA $20...

Idiots with iodine pens by

Twice in recent weeks I have been to my local bank's ATM and received
brand new 2004 $20s unc. with consecutive sn's. All the notes have
anti-counterfeiting pen marks on an edge. Someone is clearly swiping
entire packs along their sides. This raises two questions. First how
good a tool is swiping...

Bank Of Scotland HQ by
note.boy
The Scottish Chapter of the IBNS had a visit to the HQ in Edinburgh on
the 27 May and it was most enjoyable.
A fine selection of old notes were laid out, a few dozen, some of which
had not been seen by the collectors present before.
We had a wander round the building and a visit to the museum. ...
