Scottish £100 note. by
note.boy
When I posted about an ebay auction of an English £100 the note
attracted some appreciative responses so here's a Scottish £100 note
from 1951.

I don't collect above £20 notes hence I'm drawing attention to it. ...

ABC??? by
Geoff Aldrich
Hello,
Have any of you hear Paul Harvey's noon broadcast today? If not, one of
the "news" items that he talks about a publicity stunt by the ABC TV
network. This stunt is designed to promote the upcoming "Commander In
Chief" program. It sounds like they have struck some kind of deal with
the...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! by
note.boy
A slabbed Scottish note, it should be a hanging offence.
As the printing of Scottish notes is of a very high standard I would not
have thought that a 65 grade, whatever that is, is anything to get excited
about, it's not as if it was printed 100 years ago.
At least the staring price is low. ...

Even more Uncs by
note.boy
Amazing, this seller has now listed yet more "unc" Scottish notes, he has
listed over the last few days more oldish uncirculated notes than I have in
my entire collection, and that in most collections I suspect..
They just have to have been treated, his buyers are full of praise for the
junk he...

What's up with gold coin denominations? by
Owen Linzmayer
I know this is a paper money forum, but I figure someone out there has to
know what's the reasoning behind denominating gold coins in $20 pieces, etc?
Is that required by some law so that it qualifies as legal tender even
though only a fool would part with it at face value? Why not just issue...

Ebay question by
line123
I sold some Irish pounds on Ebay a few days ago. Got comments and help here.
I had a total of 5 auctions, won by 4 individuals - 2 Brits, 2 Yanks. Brits
paid within litterally hours of auction end. Still waiting for the
Americans, 5 days after the auction. All Paypal.
What's a reasonable/normal...

Antarctica Note Question (Currency Board Newbie) by
Shystev99
Hi all,
I am a coin collector but Am just starting to get into Currency collecting as
well. My main interest is international and foreign notes just because they are
alot more colorful and different looking than our U.S. Currency.
One type of note that caught my eye is the "Anarctica" Sets. I see...

Finally got my Series 2003 $2 Fed set by
Rev. Chris Hale
I just received my Series 2003 $2 Premium Fed Set today.
After all the bitching and moaning I've caused since complaining about
"early Friday sales", (see last weeks Coin World mag article and previous
threads in the newsgroup) I finally got set #525. For having faxed my order
at 12:18 A.M. on the...

Grading on eBay by
Gene
Well, after 6+ years, I still laugh at the grading and the use of the
word "Rare" on eBay. There is one asshole from Tappahanock,
Virginia who calls Every single note he lists, even ragged CSA issues
that would be worth less than $10 retail, "Rare". Knowingly
telling a baldface LIE to induce...

Foolish corp. policy at Bed Bath & Beyond required pen test of $2s. by
Possum Trot
According to the lead clerk at the local BB&B store, "corporate policy
requires they use the counterfeit pen on any Twos, 50s, or 100s". In fact
they are so ignorant that the clerk I was dealing with had to call the lead
clerk to see if they could even accept Toms. You can bet that any...

In God We Trust Motto by
ralphy
I am trying to find out the date when the change of "no motto" to
"motto" on the series 1935G Silver certificate, took place. We all know
that 1935G series was printed between Jan. 30, 1961 and April 13, 1962.
We also know that a "with motto" bill is worth about 4 times that of a
"no motto" bill....
