Today's Pen by
Deirdre Saoirse Moen[_2_]
So I thought, wtf, let's talk about pens.
What pen did you use today?
I used a Titanium-nibbed Stipula Pinnochio in Volparancio Yellow, which is
a cute yellow-orange with nifty swirls.
It's not as smooth a writer as my other titanium-nibbed Stipulas because
it's got a bit of tooth. Still, it...

I added some stuff about FPs and FP inks to Wikipedia by
Juhapekka Tolvanen
Well... Here is Wikipedia's article about Fountain pens:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_pen
I added those links pointing to articles about fountain pen
manufacturers and fountain pen inks. BTW does anybody know, if Dunhill
makes fountain pens, too?
Most links to fountain pen inks are...

School bans on fountain pens by
Ron Wilbanks
A while back, I can remember reading in the newspaper that some school
district here in the Detroit Metro area, placed a ban on students using
fountain pens in class, mostly because they can be used as weapons. Can
anyone else think of other school systems that have implemented such a ban
on these...

Belt case/hoslter for pens by
William Bruce
Does anyone know of a leather pen case/holster that can be worn on a man's
belt? I say one once but have no idea where it came from. I'm looking for
one that will hold two pens and hang from my belt. Thanks.

light fast but washable ink ? by
no spam
Hi,
I am looking for a fountain pen ink that would be "light fast", I mean
that wouldn't fade, even exposed to bright sun for a prolonged amount of
time.
I don't want a waterproof ink, on the contrary, I'd like it to be somewhat
washable so that the paper can be recycled with less effort.
In...

Noodlers' catfish...why? by
svejk
Just got another bottle of Noodler's and I see that now not only does
the bottle sport a fancy color label but the bottle comes in a box.
And if that weren't swanky enough and clear proof that any day now
Nathan will be sending his tanks of ink off to India to be stirred by
some unfortuante earning...

inks down the sink by
mz
Since breaking my couple-of-decades old habit of only using Quink
black about three years ago, my ink shelf has grown to over 100
inks, not counting duplicates of favorites, discontinued, and
vintage inks. Today, some of those I consider to be of inferior
quality went down the sink.
These included...

Kit Pens .... by
William Lee
There is a fellow that is making some nice pens from kits.
Here is a link to his eBay auctions.
http://tinyurl.com/2tbre
I think he is taking the "kit" pen one step farther and is making some very
nice pens that might appeal to "real" pen users. He starts with some quality
"kits" and eliminates...

So glad I found this forum...looking for recommendations by
Hello - I downloaded the posts and immediately found what I was looking
for - recommendations regarding pens. I am looking for, (I am at least
partly sure about these criteria) a vintage, classic, fed from an ink
bottle, finer point (nib) type fountain pen. I know it's an open ended
question to...

Safe ink for Pelikan by
Messer
hi
I recently bougth Pelikan 250 pen, I really enjoy it and I want to
keep it in good condition a long a possible but I heard that some inks
can stain the Pelikans' tranparent "window". Pelikan itself says that
the most suitable ink for their pen is their "4001" (what else could
they say, really...

crazy people & ink (what Pelikan says) by
LEFTPAWRM
CHECK PELIKAN'S WEB SITE--They clearly proclaim the bottle must be
shaken before EACH use and the pen cleaned before EACH refill.
Pelikan's web site also says the ink (PFI) is 'safe' to use in its (Pelikan's)
pens.
You summarily dismiss this 'minor' bit of information as so much dreck,...

I remember a couple of years ago, I found a black gel pen on the ground
that outputted slightly grey ink instead of black - and I loved it. It
was an awesome pen that always worked perfectly - and was superior to
the ballpoint pens I had used...

As a physician, I write approximately 6 hours a day and am looking for

twist-off caps, filling the ink...

The Truth about Aurora Black by

Hi..
quick - get your opinions ready...
I have been using Levenger Raven black - a *dense* black with little
in the way of green or red tones (to my eye.)
But I contaminated my bottle (chemically, long story) and I want to
try a different black anyway. Most of what I've seen looks rather ho

Dip pens by
morten
Bought a couple in Europe a few weeks ago - thought they might be fun
for writing letters.
Problem is, after each dip, I get only half a sentence or so of
writing time. Is that indicative of dip pens? If so, I pity the
writers of old. Or are these cheapies that just don't hold ink?

different types of nibs. by
marlinspike
The way I see it there are stubs, italics, obliques, and regular nibs (I'm
ignoring music nibs and some other wierdo custom nib styles). What are the
uses of the non-regular nibs?
Thanks,
