FA: MS-68 Morgan Dollar PCGS 1880-S by
Ira
If you are a collector of this popular series, this one would be worth
at look! PCGS is quite stingy with this grade, and actually seing the
typically baggy Morgan Dollar even in grades MS-65/66, this one is
quite an eye opener. I won't see PQ, because any Morgan Dollar in this
grade would be a...

How To Buy From Individuals Online by
[email protected]
Here's the scenario...
Let's say I have started collecting a current series of coins.
And I intend to buy one per year, as long as the series lasts.
However, they started two years prior to the earliest one in my
possession. And those first two years are no longer available
from the...

Military challenge coins by
Reid Goldsborough
Just picked up one on eBay and have been investigating these military
medals issued by superior officers to military personnel in
recognition of good work and often used by military personnel when
drinking. Fascinating example of one type of exonumia, one I didn't
know about. The piece I bought is...

Ever heard of RCGS? by
JSTONE9352
I just ran across this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3417&item=3036299220
and was wondering if anyone's ever heard of the Rare Currency Grading
Service? Before this I knew of CGA and CGC. I'm just curious as to how
reliable they are and how good their...

Lying Archeologists by
Jorg Lueke
A letter from Harlan Berk Ltd. brought my attention to HR 2009. The way it
is written
any object over 100 years old found in Iraq could be seized unless you have
proof of
where it's been since 1990. That includes coins and certainly could cover
things
like Alexander tets from Babylon, Seleucid...

New Nickels being recalled! by
Bob Flaminio
Apparently the depiction of tobacco use paraphrenalia on the new nickel
(ostensibly a "peace pipe") has raised the ire of certain anti-smoking
groups, forcing the government to recall all the new nickels recently
released.
(hey, someone's gotta start these rumors, right?)

Can a bank refuse you if you request specific denominations? by
PCameron
I went to my local branch bank in Minneapolis to deposit a check. On my way
to the bank I got the idea to buy a box of quarters. I was not going to
request a specific box; rather just take what they give me and see what I
find. Maybe I will find some uncirculated state quarters or if I am...

REAL, raw, 1804 Bust Dollar on eBay? by

So, is this real?

Certainly the features look right (though I can't tell about the date). The
pedigree sounds very convincing.

Greetings to everyone! I'm another lurker-for-months who has enjoyed
reading the postings here. Since this topic is current, I thought I'd chime
in.
I live in Aurora, Colorado, near the Denver Mint and not too far from the
ANA. I've been collecting mainly circulated pocket change and coins...

1916 or 17 Standing Liberty Quarter? by
Paul
In looking through my box of dateless coins I noticed a Standing Liberty
Quarter. The reverse shows it to be from 1916 or 1917 (no stars under the
eagle), and the obverse has no mint mark to the left of the date. So the
coin is either a 1916P or a 1917P.
The rest of the obverse is in G shape and...
