Planchet Quality by george pearl
I bought a MS68 Indiana quarter on ebay to have an example of what such a grade would look like. I noticed that the coin had mirrored fields and I was wondering if the Mint specially prepared the planchets in order to achieve such quality-maybe polishing the planchets prior to striking.

HONG KONG 1 dollar 1866 falsification by Peter Paul de Jong
Hi everyone! Can anybody tell me if a lot of counterfeits exist of the Hong Kong 1866 1 dollar coin? If so, how can you distinguish the difference from a real one? Or can anyone tell me more about where these counterfeits come from? best regards, Peter Paul de Jong

What to do with Kennedy half dollars? by Barney
I bought a roll of Kennedy halfs for spending purposes only. What I ended up getting was about half of them from 1967 and 1968. Now I don't know what to do with them. I know I could use them at face value, but I also know they are 40% silver...meaning (from what I've read;) the value of...

Can anyone explain what is meant by the term: "Graded PCGS *XC46" by [email protected]
when the encapsulated coin (a large cent) is graded by PCGS as VG10? Also seen under this listing on eBay: 1883-O Dollar Morgan Silver GSA - Graded *XC46 (but with no actual grading by anyone) The *XC46 puzzles me as it's seems to only be used by M. Barr Antiques Ken

CIT SmartMinting by Anthony R. Gonzales, Sr.
Ursula Kampmann has an interesting write-up on her site at Coins Weekly. I have seen a lot of these smaller issuing governments (like Cook Islands) in the past few years with unbelievably high relief and 3D artistry. Coins Weekly has a small write-up on the company that has been minting these...

What are your thought? by sgt23
Will any of you be purchasing the Mercury, Standing Liberty or Walking Liberty gold coins this year? Do you like this ideal or do you think the mint should stay away from these kinds of products?

RUSSIA: Fake 1899 10 rouble coin by Bob Hairgrove
This must be fake, but is it a known counterfeit? http://imagecloset.com/5/12041009-Russia_10_Kopeek_1899_Faelschung.jpg (It's actually a gold 10 rouble coin, in spite of what the file name says). The mintmaster AR was only active after 1901. --
