Skine or Skin? by
John B. Egger
Irreverent questions: How does one pronounce the last syllable of
Moleskine? Rhyming with pine (as in tree) or pin (as like a needle)? The
answer seems obvious to me, but the people I've actually heard pronounce
the word (about two persons) seem to think it's like the hide of a...

problems cleaning steel pens by
mz
Some of J. Herbin's inks for steel pens crossed my threshold
recently, and I'm finding these difficult to clean from the pens.
The inks a (1) Encre Authentique; (2) Encre Victor Hugo; and (3)
Roi Soleil (Sun King ink). I've begun using rubbing alcohol as a
solvent, but varying amounts of residue...

Non-permanent Noodler's blues by
Arnav
Are any of the Noodler's blue inks completely free of the permanent black dye?
I'm looking for a blue ink that can be easily washed out of cotton fabric. I
very much like the color and freedom of feathering of the Ottoman Azure, but it
seems to have a component that binds tenaciously to paper. ...

Inking a Pelikan by
Cliff Reynolds
Well, it's me again...
I just filled my Pelikan M200 for the first time. I had to make several
attempts to fill it. First, I just put the first 2/3rds of the nib in the
ink. I twisted the filler knob to draw ink into the pen body, but just a
small amount of ink entered the chamber. I made two...

Cliff Reynolds
First, thank you to the half dozen or so folks from this group who have
given me advice over the last few weeks. It is very much appreciated.
For the last couple of months, I have been reading everything that I can get
my hands on related to fountain pens. I'm facinated with them. As a...

Noodler's Ink American Eel vs. adding liquid glycerine to ink by
Juhapekka Tolvanen
What you think about this?
http://www.vintagepens.com/FAQbasics/ink.shtml
"Plunger-fillers (and to a lesser extent, piston-fillers) may
benefit by having supplementary piston seal lubrication in the
ink. A few drops of liquid glycerine (available from pharmacies)
added to a bottle of ink can give...

Penspotting: Queen Elizabeth by
Tim McNamara
I watched a PBS show about the Queen and her family- really a rather
interesting slice of 20th century British history, BTW- and there was
a scene of the Queen reading and signing papers at her desk. This
looked pretty recent, I would say, from her appearance.
The pen she used was obviously a...

Laban Mento by
Adam Bailey
I recently stumbled across the Laban Mento on www.moleskineus.com, and
it looks like a really great (and affordable) pen. I really like the
design and the finishes. I think it is a fairly new model, does anyone
have experience with this particular pen? I had never heard of Laban
before I saw...
