How can I even begin to thank you? by
Chrysta
Many times I have been humbled by the generosity of the people who read
and post here, but this just takes the cake. I haven't been on RCC for
over a month, so imagine my surprise when packages started arriving on
my doorstep today for my little angel...words fail me. Of all the acts
of random...

"Karats" by weight or volume? by
Don A. Gilmore
Hi guys:
Are karats (like of gold) measured by weight or by volume? Most of what I
read implies that karats are measured by weight (24k being pure gold), but
that just doesn't make any sense. If karats are determined by weight, you
would have to know exactly what the alloying metals were to...

Is there a way to remove the copper from a zinc penny?? by
The Space Boss
Is there any way to "melt" the copper off of a zinc penny, so that you
just have a regular penny made out of zinc?? I know you can file the
copper off, etc., but I'm talking about removing the copper in such a
way that the coin doesn't look crappy that it looks like a nice coin
that was minted that...

What is your oldest dated coin (show and tell) by

Thought it would be an interesting post to see what collectors have as their
oldest
dated coin. Not their oldest but the oldest with a date. I have older
coins but
the one I have with the oldest date is:

Dollar Coins in Normal Commerce by
GFH
Are dollar coins being used in normal commerce? I have not seen even
one. My bank does not have any. The local post office has never seen
one. I live near Charlottesville, VA.
Does anyone know of a location where these coins are in common use?

quarter by
[email protected]
i just saw a virgin islands quarter. it is my favorite and actually the only
state quarter design i truly like. it has a sparseness and economy of design
that works well. uncluttered, unfettered by background noise and really
representative of that part of the world, it looks like the where it's...

Conch Republic coin? by
Erik McCrea
Dear Group,
I am seeking one of the Conch Republic coins (Key West, FL; they
seceded from the U.S. in 1982); there is one that says "Conch Republic
Forever" and "In Conchs We Trust" on the coin. And there is another
charnming one that is made to look like a shipwreck-style coin. Does
anyone in...

I'm delighted to report that they are brilliant!! Well done Kyle. :-)
RCC's (and no doubt usenet's) very first `hammered' token. You've done

CONTEST TIME !, get out your redbooks by
Dan769
Chrysta's contest made me think that it is time I had one of my own. This one
is gonna take a little effort on your part. The contest is to guess what coin
in my collection has the lowest mintage. To narrow down the list from thousands,
I have whittled it down to 105 coins to choose from. Here are...

Ok. EBay is where I sell virtually all my coins. It is where I buy most of
the coins I buy. Other than eBay, I have bought and sold on Andy's UrBid,
mainly because I like Andy and want to contribute, .....well, that's not
quite true, I have picked up a few bargains and a number of...

Collecting Silver Coin vs. Collecting Silver Bullion? by
Jay Quinn
Is there a better reason to collect certain silver coins opposed to
silver bullion if your interested chiefly in the weight/$ aspect, and
not so much the metal weight and other factors that coin can bring to
the table in value?
IOW's, what about 1oz Sivler Eagles vs 1oz Silver Bullion...
