Waternan Hemisphere Problems by
AndyH
I was bought a Waterman Hemisphere for xmas. Normally I use Lamy
Safari, Cross or Parker fountain pens so I am well used to fountains
pens when they work and when they dont.
I decided to wait until the Waterman ink converter arrived from the
Parker Pen Co. I then filled it with Noodlers Purple. ...

Pelikan M1000 vs. M800 Nibs by
Norman M. Schwartz
I have a M1000 with a fine nib which writes flawlessly and silky smooth on
nearly all types of paper. On the other hand I have a M800 with a medium nib
which was/is "coarse" and scratchy from the get go. I sent it back to
Chartpak and it came back somewhat improved but it is still no match for...

Best shirt-pocket notebook? by
John B. Egger
The Moleskines I've seen are too large; the 3x4.25 Clairefontaines I
just received are rather small. Suggestions for a good ink-friendly
notebook that will fit nicely in an ordinary shirt pocket?

Parker gel refills leak ... any solution? by
john.camus
I love their violet ink - superb - but, if I forget to retract the point, it
leaks in contact with my shirt. I've ruined two shirts that way so far.
One solution would be to use them with a capped pen but I don't know of any
that accept Parker gel refills.
Basically, the problem is that Parker...

Looking for info about a St Dupont pen by
[email protected]
I have recently come into possession of three fountain pens. One of
them is a St Dupont brown Chinese lacquer pen in the original box. The
nib seems to be tagged 18kt and it was made in France. It also has the
original tag in the box that indicates that it is a No 28573Y.
How can I find out...

Scripto "Classic" pencil? by
John B. Egger
I've used these since long before they were renamed "Classic," but they
now seem to be unavailable. Are they still produced, and/or are they
still available somewhere?
I have found that Office Depot's thickest lead (I think it's 1.1 mm)
fits them.

Why all good citizens should use fountain pens by
marlinspike
I have always been concerned with the laws of my local government; however,
I have noticed that thanks to fountain pens, I find myself writing my local
government to either support their plans or to discuss certain laws (i.e.
why they are wrong :-) If the political parties want people to get out...

Looking for 0.3 MM Pentel pencil by
DiamondDave65
I recently had a strange experience with Pentel, USA. I have been
looking for a replacement for my Pentel P203 mechanical pencil for a
couple of years. It's 0.3 mm and it fits my hand just right. I bought
it when I was in college, over 12 years ago. Well, a couple of years
ago, the gripping...

Black Mont Blanc fountain pen Ink appears BROWN on page by
Blarney
I was given a Mont Blanc fountain pen for Christmas about six years ago.
I've never really used it, mainly because I can never get the ink to look
right when I'm writing. I bought an expensive vial of black Mont Blanc
ink from Office Depot, however when I fill the pen and write with it, the
ink on...

best pen for big hands? by
thetza
Can anyone recommend a good pen for someone with large hands? (By
large, I mean large enough to easily palm a basketball and then some.)
I've tried almost all pens under $25 at my local stationaries but have
yet to find a pen I'd be willing to use for the rest of my life. My
dream pen has the...

ROTRING FREEWAY: A review by

Hi,
Since no one has written much online about the Rotring Freeway, I
thought I'd post a review of this wonderful, inexpensive pen.
I purchased a black Freeway for $26 from Joon, but I've seen it sell
for even less by various online merchants. Here's a brief review:

Sheaffer Nostalgia by
Paul G
Hi All,
Just picked up a very nice "older" vermeil Nostalgia.
Can anyone tell me what year these were offered, and what nib is
correct?
Of the two left in the tray, one had a yellow 14k nib, and the other a
two-tone 18k.
Thanks much,
Pelikanyo Paul (who likes a Sheaffer or two)

Speaking of Noodler's ink: my own ink tests by
R. Paul Martin
I've been doing ink tests for decades. I'm less interested in
envelopes not getting smeared than I am in the things I write not
going away due to age or accident. So I was very interested in the
Noodler's ink. Here are the results of some ink tests I did with some
ordinary inks and Noodler's. For...

President Bush and his Sharpie by
John
I recall reading in more than one place that the President often uses
a Sharpie to make notes or even edit documents. Best that I can
figure is the guy a) likes felt tips (I understand the official pen
and bill signer is a Cross Townsend Selectip Felt) and b) the
permanent ink is good for...
