Australian cards have a band of plain tape across the top of the address

Some time ago a dealer in switzerland on ebay, was offering a item which
he believed was a proof for a stamp prepared in 1914 for the liberation
of Alsace in 1914.
Does anyone know if such a thing was ever prepared?

Whats the story with the recent flood of offers of "mint,no gum' GB
stamps offered on eBay. First, where do the get them from and secondly,
whats the legal status ?. I assume they are being sold to be used as
