How do you hold your pen? by Aaron W. Hsu[_3_]
So, in the spirit of getting more discussion going here, I thought I would pose a little question that I always ask when meeting a fellow pen enthusiast in person: How do you hold your pen? For myself, I have a long history of pen grip introspection, so it is okay if you don't actively think about...

The billion dollar space pen ... by Speedmaster
I think Fisher Space pens are great, I always have one in my desk. And an interesting bit of history here too. The billion-dollar space pen --- One of the enduring urban legends of the space program is that NASA spent millions, if not billions, of dollars developing a space pen, while the Russians...

Good fountain pens for £150 by User1014
What should my short-list be? Also am I missing some really really good pen at only a fraction above my budget? Might get Santa to get me a nice fountain pen.

What is the difference between the parker twist 'deluxe' piston filler and the normal, cheaper, pump action one? does one hold more ink or something?

Fountain Pen Network Moderator Guidelines! by The Drunken Lord[_2_]
You know, I feel sorry for those dip**** FPN moderators who have to read all the posts on FPN. There are three or so moderators on each forum who have to--or are supposed to--read all of the stupid and meaningless comments posted on FPN. That makes up about 98% of what is posted on FPN. Here are...

how much iron in fountain pen blue-blacks? by MatthewK
Anybody have an idea on how much "gall" is in diamine registrar ink, monte blanc's blue-black, lamy blue-black (bottle), or R&K gall ink? I'm just curious in fairly general terms as to how much "gall" does the job in these inks. Guesses in ppm or any other unit are welcome.

pilot capless problems by Matthew[_2_]
I recently purchased a capless and am liking the pen quite a bit. The trouble is that I think I have recieved a bad nib unit. The first ink I tried was a pilot cartridge and within 20 minutes ink was running down the tip of the nib. The leak is coming from where the gold nib connects to the unit...

Nib polishing with a copper penny by virgiliopoeta
Here's a safe, easy, simply way to polish your nibs. As always, try this on a junker first. Get an old copper penny (pre-1982) and turn it obverse side up on some paper. The obverse has the Lincoln memorial. The columns of the memorial make an excellent polishing surface. Zinc pennies aren't...

Star of David, Cross, etc.... by Scaupaug
How is this as a response to the recent appearance of post WW-II swastika pens after the Chicago show from South America? Waterman never made a swastika pen ....only Parker did (and decades before WW II)! http://members.aol.com/repairpens/judeochristian/index.html Are religious symbols now so...

Da Book by Michael Oates
Hi, As a newbie to both this group and pens I keep seeing 'Da Book' mentioned as almost a bible on this and another groups. Can some one tell me what the real title is and the author so I can have a look? Thanks, Mike

Parker 51s/61s spotted in Bath UK by Karen Traviss
If anyone is passing through Bath, take a look in Papyrus. I visited the shop for the first time today looking for journals and found they had a stack of mint and near-mint boxed 51s and 61s. They also have a good selection of older Parkers back to the 20s and also sell new Waterman,Omas and...

restoring barrel clarity by Chris Burton
Can anything be done to restore a little clarity/transparancy to the barrel of a striped vac? I thought that I remembered someone saying that they had success with a diluted 409 soultion. As I'm unable to find any mention of such concoction, I'll wait for suggestions. thanks, Chris Burton

Vulcanite Turning Green by Andrew Perlow
I have a number of Parker Lucky curves that I've mistakenly displayed in a wooden felt lined pen box with the lid open. I believe that this has hastened them turning from black to olive green. Is there a way to restore the original black without decreasing the pen's value. I've looked at Da Book...

Notebooks search by Karen Traviss
When I was visiting Toronto last year, I bought a small Moleskine-type notebook made by Cartotecnica Monzese. Now I've got round to using it, I've fallen deeply and hopelessly in love with it - TWO page markers! But - Sod's Law - I now can't find a stockist, and I can't recall the name of...

Waterman Phileas skipping? by Michael
Hello All, I'm very new to fountain pens, and I've decided to begin using numerous ones that were lying around my house, as well as buy a few new ones to see which suited my tastes. I purchased two new pens: one Sheaffer Prelude with the gunmetal finish, and a Waterman Phileas. I have to admit that...

Why all good citizens should use fountain pens by marlinspike
I have always been concerned with the laws of my local government; however, I have noticed that thanks to fountain pens, I find myself writing my local government to either support their plans or to discuss certain laws (i.e. why they are wrong :-) If the political parties want people to get out...
