Pen Selection Suggestions? by
Cliff Reynolds
First, thank you to the half dozen or so folks from this group who have
given me advice over the last few weeks. It is very much appreciated.
For the last couple of months, I have been reading everything that I can get
my hands on related to fountain pens. I'm facinated with them. As a...

flex by
news.verizon.net
i have found no modern nib as capable of very substantial line variation as
those of "montegrappa" (despite their being 18k), not even the "falcon" from
namiki. are there any other modern pens you know of with substantial flex?

Gift pen? by
Lee Fyock
Hi--
I'm absolutely new to "serious" pens, and am looking for a gift for my
wife. I was planning on getting a reasonably nice roller-ball, but
after reading some of the posts, a fountain pen sounds like something
she might enjoy.
I'd like to keep it a surprise, so I can't follow the "try it"...

fountain pen use? by
Terry McGinty
This may have been discussed previously, but I'm sure it's been awhile. For
those users of fountain pens, how do you use them: Letters, journals,
appointment calendars, note taking, sketching, or whatever? I'm interested
in your primary usage, so list with primary first.
My major usage is for...

Graduation pen for future lawyer . . . by
[email protected]
What would be a good quality daily use pen for a graduating law
student? I tend to like the gel type ink in the Pilot G2. I found this
group via my night's research into personal productivity, and like the
notion of the sorts of pen that could accept the G2 refill, but I am
naturally not tied to...

How do I clean old pens by
Alan Mudd
Hello all,
During a bit of tidy up at home I've unearthed a boxed set of 8 Rotring
Varient draughting pens.
sizes 01.mm upto 1.2mm.
I was a draughtsman back in the mid 80's which I probably the last time
these were used.

First impressions: Noodler's Ink Luxury Blue by
Juhapekka Tolvanen
IIRC this is "bulletproof" and not "eternal" ink. Correct me, if I am
wrong. They have difference: Both are water-resistant, but bulletproof
inks can not not be removed from paper without damaging that paper.
Here is what Nathan himself says about his "eternal"...

Eversharp Skyline Question by
Mark Brown
I ran across an Eversharp Skyline in a local antique mall (G.F. cap and
brown plastic barrel), it is in very good condition with just some very
minor surface scratches on the barrel (easily polished out by hand).
Unfortunately, no section, feed or nib.... It was only a few bucks so I
picked it...

Bad News about Cross by
john cline ii
I thought this would be posted here already. If it has been, I
apologize. I have been out of circulation for awhile, and this time it
had nothing to do with vacation, work or coasters.
Anyway, Cross is eliminating 80 manufacturing jobs in Rhode Island and
80 non-manufacturing jobs worldwide. ...

Paging Nathan Tardiff by
Free Citizen
Hi,
There is a question about the Noodler's Black. If it is not too much
trouble, it would be nice if you can share some light about the ink. Please

Review of the Pelikan Level 5 by
Avery A. Hise
Rambling Snail is still growing and in an effort to compliment the
member galleries that afford every registered member 2MB of gallery
space (more on case by case) a reviews service that is spot-on!
The reviews service is still being smoothed over but submitting
reviews is now easier than ever....

Extremely slow drying of Noodlers Black Ink by
Roo
I have some Noodlers Black ink which I bought about 14 months ago. It
has never been a particularly fast drying ink, but in the last few
months it has become incredibly slow. The worst is in a Molskine diary
where I have had it blot after 8 hours. Even in the hardbound books I
use at work (like...

What you really need to know... by
Curtis L. Russell
Forget whether or not a pen skips or how long you can write with one.
What is important is how well it stands up under twirling and
twiddling and general waving about.
I have a display stand that I use to hold the six pens at work. No
matter how fast I react, each and every one of them gets picked...

Question international cartridges by
R. Paul Martin
So I've bought a couple of inexpensive pens. They take the
"international" cartridges. I'm used to the Schaeffer cartridges and
these "international" ones raise some questions.
The ones that came with my new pens are exactly 1.5 inches long. I
originally measured them in millimeters, about 38 mm,...

Greater friction with fountain pens? by
Tommy C. Li
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello,
In an earlier post, I expressed interest in fountain pens, because they
are supposedly even easier to write with than gel-rollerball pens.
I got my hands on an old one my mom had, and tried it.

Repair or Replace--Suggestions? by
Thamnu
My MB Meisterstück 149 just sprang a leak at the piston after eleven years of
service. I have consulted a couple of local pen shops: both say that, if the
pen can't be fixed on site, they'll have to send it off to Montblanc on the
East Coast or, in the event of a serious problem, back to Germany,...
