Oblique nibs? by
Bluesea
Understanding that right-handed writers generally prefer left oblique nibs,
I ordered one. But, I find that I prefer the type of line it makes when
writing with it upside-down (top of nib facing down towards paper instead of
the usual up towards ceiling) and I'm thinking of exchanging it for a...

Favorite Ballpoint by
John
Yes, wake the kids and phone the neighbors. This ol' chestnut is back!
What is your favorite ballpoint . . . that costs more that a buck a
refill? (Sorry John Cline II -- this will rule out the mighty Bic
which IMHO is the best disposable). I find that my choices vary:
Black medium point -...

Best shirt-pocket notebook? by
John B. Egger
The Moleskines I've seen are too large; the 3x4.25 Clairefontaines I
just received are rather small. Suggestions for a good ink-friendly
notebook that will fit nicely in an ordinary shirt pocket?

Second Fountain pen? by
Doki
I've currently got a Cross ATX which I bought a while ago and enjoy writing
with, but it needs sending off to Cross for repairs, so I'd like an extra
pen.
My local Staples have various fountain pens on offer after Christmas
(Shaeffer, Waterman and Rotring), and I'd prefer not to spend a fortune...

Pen buyers ... by
William Lee
It would seem that there are many dstinct factors involving what makes a
person want a pen.
I think two best discribe most pen buyers.
1) The Feel. If you close your eyes and write with a pen you know right
away if you like the feel and balance of that Pen. You like the way it feels
in your...

REQ: Post your favorite pen! by
Aaron W. Hsu[_3_]
Hey Everyone,
So, it's been quiet here, but I was just thinking that it would be really
cool if everyone could post up pictures of their favorite pens, either
their favorite no-use pen or their favorite pen that they use to write
with, maybe both? It would be interesting to see what everyone...

question of ink by
Scaupaug
OK...nobody likes to buy bulk ink in a plastic jug. I would therefore like to
ask two questions about ink:
What is the lowest price point you know of for a mint/flawless 2 ounce bottle
of GOOD ink with great contrast in its color selection once written on paper.
(example: the burgundy is almost...

roller balls by
DaveW
Am I alone in that I have never, never been able to make a roller ball
pen work properly for very long?
They always seem to stop putting out ink in a very short order. Even
before that, they tend to either not flow fast enough or make blots and
feather.
I don not usually have such problems with...

The Best Ink by

As important as the quest of finding the ultimate fountain pen is
finding the ultimate fountain pen ink. Any suggestions about your
experiences and preferences? My preference is Lamy Turquoise. It has
beautiful colour variation and the bottle is superbly constructed with
an inbuilt roll of blotting...

Good writing paper by
sbsawler
Hi:
I've been using Levenger's Circa paper to write on; I find it is smooth,
adsorbs and absorbs the ink well (Waterman ink) and enables writing on
boths sides of the page. (...I'm ashamed to say that I've not checked to
see if it's acid free...)
What are you folks using or what would you...

blue or black ink? by
Chuck Swisher
Jo wrote:
" Is anyone using black ink in a fountain pen? Does that look good? I know
black ink only from india ink and calligraphy. Pelikan sells ink refills

So there must be a market for black ink, I guess. I'm trying...

Interested in ballpoint pen quality by
David P
The obvious choice would be something like the Pilot v5. A really nice
pen.
For what it's worth, I use fountain pens, and prefer a Waterman Phileas or
Pilot 51, but I would recommend the following as the perfect rollerball:
Look for a kyocera-ceramic-refill based pen.
You might look at...

REAL Writer's Pen by
morten
Much has been written in these interesting and valuable posts about
pens. Many though are written based on qualifications like
appearance, nib quality, ink flow, collectibility, value, etc. Good
OBJECTIVE standards of the elements of a pen I suppose.
But I'm not sure, based on what I've read,...

Pilot Capless Decimo squeaks! by
Moira Perkins
Hi acpp,
I while ago I got a Pilot Capless (standard model, broad). Loved it.
I can resist anything except temptation...
Now I've got the "Decimo", and it's like a slimline version of the original.
I got another broad nib.
The weird thing about this is the squeaking noise it makes as...

Smoothness of black inks, compared to other colors. Why?! by
BigBen
Hi All,
My somewhat limited experience with inks, tells me that black inks are
the smoothest and best flowing of all, without being "watery".
Why, please, if anyone knows the answer?
Other than that: alternatives to Waterman Havana Brown, that make your
scratchy pens feel normal, and your goods...
