Pen advice needed.. by
Rainy
Hi, I want to get a nice new fountain pen. I've used lamy safari
before but then someone " borrowed " it. Last few years I've used
Rotring Core and I like it well enough. I like the fact that it has a
better ink flow than lamy but I liked lamy for having a more flexible
nib. Generally speaking I...

Good memory? by
Donf
Hi All;
I was reading through the pop survey in June of 2004. What caught my
attention was the number of pens and the exact ink each had in it for
peoples pen rotation. Do pen people keep logs of pens with which ink
and on what type of paper, or unlike me do pen people just have good
memories? ...

Pelikan Fountain Pens by
Sonny
First of all, I am not a fountain pen expert. I have a few pens that are
supposed to be worth collecting. But I own mostly new pens that I have
purchased over the past five or six years. So my comments are my opinion
only.
My first fountain pen was a gift from my mom. She received it in...

Namiki Falcon by
Moira Perkins
Hi acpp,
I finally got my hands on a Namiki Falcon today. UK suppliers seemed
extortionate; I got mine from the US at a very decent price.
It's a beauty: classical black and gold, and not much bigger than a
Pelly 400. I didn't even give it the traditional de-greasing flush, just
stuck...

Moleskines by
User1014
Bought some Moleskine's for 2007.
I've heard Noodler's Ink is good with them, what about Pelikan 4001 ?
Finer nibs are probably a good idea so as not to get too much ink down
and therefore get some bleed or whatever you guys call it :-)
Will my mileage vary?

how to keep sac supple for longer? by
Ada Ma
Hi all,
Found a Sheaffer 350 from the bottom of my drawer - haven't touched the pen for
2 years and I picked it up and try lifting the lever to see if the sac is still
working - well it wasn't. I remember quite clearly that I replaced the sac a
little less than 3 years ago. Now, I have not been...

What Model Waterman? by
Cliff Reynolds
From the web pages that I have looked at, this pen is a Waterman, Expert. I
guess it's an older one. Anyone know if there is a model number, or model
name to further identify it? Like Expert, Expert I, Expert II??? This pen
is a little different than the Experts that I see advertised. So,...

Penspotting: Queen Elizabeth by
Tim McNamara
I watched a PBS show about the Queen and her family- really a rather
interesting slice of 20th century British history, BTW- and there was
a scene of the Queen reading and signing papers at her desk. This
looked pretty recent, I would say, from her appearance.
The pen she used was obviously a...

Forced to buy a Mont Blanc Mozart - thoughts? by
morten
HEre's my problem. A friend gave me a Mont Blanc ballpoint as a gift.
I don't want it, because it's a ballpoint. (A $2 gel pen is light
years better than this $295 gadget).
Went back to the store to trade for a fountain. All of which are Mont
Blanc (jewelery store, not pen shop) and start at...

is there a perfect notebook or journal for FPs? by
PalmUser
I've googled until I'm Florida Blue in the face, looking for a
recommendation for a journal or notebook (not larger than 8.5 X 11 inches or
so) with paper that will not feather (PR ink) or show through significantly,
preferably bound so that it will lay flat. (I use an XF usually, BTW, with
very...

Any hope? by
Shuttermutt
Greetings all! I'm hoping for some good news here. It seems my Parker
51 fell into the hands of my wife... twice. The first time she jammed
the cap on and, while attempting to remove it, apparently twisted the
nib in the shell. The second time, while we were moving, she had
actually THROWN IT AWAY...

Newbie Questions: Scratchiness and Dry Pen by
Tony Fischer
I just got a new Pelikan M800. This being my first fountain pen I
have a few questions:
1. I see a lot of talk about some pens being 'scratchy' but how do
you define that? This pen does not seem to write as smooth as my
roller ball, but it does not catch on the paper either. Should it
feel...

Recommendation for a good but cheap refillable rollerball? by
none
I've been hooked on Pilot VBall/VBall Grip rollerball pens because they
write very smoothly. However, they're very expensive and can't be
refilled. It also seems that Pilot has replaced its line of refillable
rollerballs with refillable gel ink pens, which don't write as smoothly
or last nearly as...

Ink colours in the past. by
Gary
Hi
Does anyone know why different coloured inks were used in the past, and for
what purpose? Why blue, red and black? Or violet and brown? Many thanks.

Speaking of Noodler's ink: my own ink tests by
R. Paul Martin
I've been doing ink tests for decades. I'm less interested in
envelopes not getting smeared than I am in the things I write not
going away due to age or accident. So I was very interested in the
Noodler's ink. Here are the results of some ink tests I did with some
ordinary inks and Noodler's. For...

Store pens horizontally or vertically? by
nick
Should I store filled pens horizontally or vertically? How do you guys
store your fouuntain pens? I read somewhere that if a pen is laid down
horizontally it could leak. Is this a problem that anyone has noticed?
Also, what type of case do you guys keep your pens in?
Thanks.

Waterman fountainpen preferences by
BC
Hi there,
After not being completely happy with a Sheaffer intrigue, i've decided to
return it and get myself a waterman. The ones i am looking at are either the
expert, expert 2000 or hemisphere. I think I'm leaning towards the expert.
Has anyone got any advice or experiences with these pens...
