shaking ink? by JK
I was one of those who picked up a Pelikan 605 in the Levengers sale. Gave it its first fill of the wonderful Noodler's Black, and started writing....and was surprised to see a line of ink that was distinctly "mid- grey" rather than the normal dense black I'm used to from Noodler's (which I only...

ink by Gregg Gibson
Here's an interesting ebook on ink and printing I ran across: A http://www.worldwideschool.org/library/books/tech/printing/FortyCenturiesofInk/Chap0.html I downloaded it and listened to it on my mac. There are chapters on ink chemistry that are beyond me, but also a lot of...

Parker 45 converter by John B. Egger
I'm finding that my Parker 45, equipped with a Parker converter, will not draw ink from the bottle when it's installed in the pen... but it will when I remove it from the pen and insert it directly into the bottle. This is not a pen I use very often. The problem sounds to me like an air leak at...

light fast but washable ink ? by no spam
Hi, I am looking for a fountain pen ink that would be "light fast", I mean that wouldn't fade, even exposed to bright sun for a prolonged amount of time. I don't want a waterproof ink, on the contrary, I'd like it to be somewhat washable so that the paper can be recycled with less effort. In...

Anyone find the 605 a bit scratchy? by John B. Egger
I just filled my Levenger's Pelikan 605 with Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue and put it to paper. It seems a little scratchy. Not bad... but it may not be quite as smooth as my Waterman Phileas, and it definitely isn't as smooth as the Namiki Vanishing Point that's become my favorite pen. I've only...

Placing feed into section by Perry
Hi, all. What's the best tool to use when pushing a nib/feed assembly back into the section? I'm working on Skylines, but a general suggestion is welcome, too. Section pliers look like they'd work. Any advice? Perry

Review of Graham Hogg's The Parker Ballpoint Pen, second edition 2004 by James Goodwin
Gents: I just received a copy of the above mentioned book and immediately started to devour it for its knowledge. There is a preponderance of books on the fountain pen and they are greater in number than those about ball point pens. No disrepect intended to those who own and use fountain pens,...

The striped Pelikans have a roughly 1mm thick layer of striped plastic wrapped around a clear plastic tube. People say the striped stuff is celluoid, but what's the clear stuff? -- I brought my BOWLING BALL -- and some DRUGS!!

Received: Pelikan 605. Couple of questions by Txiasaeia
First of all, what a difference from my metal Technixx! A nice light pen but a tiny bit bigger, the perfect size. I really like the fine nib as compared to the medium - exactly perfect for me. Now, I've never used a drinker before, but I seemed to fill up the reservoir without any problems. The...
